In this seminar, grief and loss coach/counselor, Laura Wallace, MSW will help participants with a basic understanding of the grief as a result of a major loss, change or transition, and how to better support our clients who are experiencing the effects of grief.

Laura will...

  • present the obvious, (and not so obvious), ways grief can manifest in behavior, emotions & actions
  • share strategies to acknowledge and address the sadness, fear, grief and frustration with skill and confidence
  • discuss the real-world challenges to develop & maintain healthy boundaries professionally, while still demonstrating genuine compassion and kindness personally.

  • How to recognize grief in a more comprehensive way.
  • Key phrases and strategies to use when a client needs support.
  • Understand when, how and why setting preemptive boundaries is the most professional AND compassionate choice.

Laura Kellison Wallace graduated from Smith College in 1988 and received her Master’s degree in Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1995. She is a social worker, trainer, coach, counselor and consultant for issues relating to when Life and Work Collide, (aka, Work-Life Integration).

With over 25 years of experience working with individuals, families and groups, she has developed specific expertise in Balance, Transitions, Grief and Change. She has developed over 75 original personal and professional seminars and groups and completed well-over 300 hours of formal training. Laura was the Work/Family Program Manager at UNCChapel Hill, and then the Senior Manager of Work/Life & Employee Assistance Programs at SAS (HQ in Cary, NC for 13 years until 2013.

For the last 7 years, she has worked as a small business consultant, trainer and coach as well as in her private practice. She loves leading workshops and coaching individuals and groups. She lives in Chapel Hill with her husband and crazy dog Maddie.
