NAPO Chicago Membership Categories

Once you are a member of NAPO, you are eligible to join the Chicago chapter, NAPO Chicago. You must join in thesame membership category as your NAPO membership. Read on for more details, or join now.

If you are a related professional (not a professional organizer or productivity professional) and interested in becoming a Business Partner Member, complete your application for membership on the Become a Business Partner page.


There are several categories of NAPO Chicago memberships. You will join NAPO Chicago using the same membership category as your NAPO membership. See Membership Fees and Privileges for additional detail.

* Please Note: Applications for Multi-Person Businesses, Emeritus / Retired Members, Allied Members, and Student Members are processed via email rather than online. Please email Membership@NAPOChicago.com for application information. 

All new applications are subject to a $10 processing fee. 

New Member applications submitted online will be activated the following business day. 

NAPO Chicago membership dues are non-refundable.


Provisional Member

An individual who aspires to become a Professional Member and has joined NAPO as a Provisional Member is eligible to join NAPO Chicago as a Provisional Member. A Provisional Member may advance to Professional Member status after successfully completing the three courses in the NAPO Professional Practices Curriculum.

A Provisional Member enjoys many NAPO Chicago membership benefits, including a listing in the Find-an-Organizer directory, but cannot serve as a Director on the Board or as an Officer of the Association.

Professional Member

An individual who is a Professional Member of NAPO may join NAPO Chicago as a Professional Member.

    A Professional Member is entitled to the full range of NAPO Chicago membership benefits, including a listing in the Find-an-Organizer director, voting privileges, eligibility to serve as a Director on the Board, and eligibility to serve as an Officer of the Association.

    Multi-Person Business

    Organizing and productivity businesses with more than one employee or owner may purchase multiple memberships at a discounted rate. Membership through this dues structure is available to business owners, partners, or W-2 employees only; independent contractors are not eligible. Under this structure, business owners and/or employees will share the same renewal date.

    This level of membership must be purchased by the Professional Member employer, who is required to submit a copy of the W-2 form, along with the employee's application for each employee seeking membership as a Multi-Person Business.

    The membership belongs to the Professional Member (the employer), and is transferable to another designated employee with written notification to NAPO Chicago.

    Members of a Multi-Person Business are entitled to the full range of NAPO Chicago’s membership benefits, including a listing in the Find-an-Organizer director and voting privileges. Multi-Person Business members who are Professional Members of NAPO are eligible to serve as a Director on the Board and an Officer of the Association.

    Emeritus / Retired Member

    An individual who is an Emeritus / Retired Member of NAPO can become an Emeritus / Retired Member of NAPO Chicago. Retired Professional Members are eligible for Emeritus / Retired Membership once they are no longer engaged in the organizing and/or productivity profession, are at least 55 years of age, and have been a NAPO member for at least 15 years.

    An Emeritus /  Retired Member will continue to receive many of NAPO Chicago’s membership benefits, including voting privileges, eligibility to serve as a Director on the Board, and eligibility to serve as an Officer of the Association.

    Allied Member

    An Allied Member of NAPO is an individual who is employed by a government agency, post-secondary educational institution, non-profit organization, for-profit entity, or is self-employed, and is engaged as an organizing and/or productivity professional who does not offer services to the public.  An Allied Member of NAPO may join NAPO Chicago as an Allied Member.

    An Allied Member receives several NAPO Chicago’s membership benefits, but does not have general voting privileges and cannot serve as a Director on NAPO Chicago's Board or as an Officer of the Association.

    Student Member

    A Student Member of NAPO is an individual who is enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university. A Student Member of NAPO may join NAPO Chicago as a Student Member. A Student Member receives selected NAPO Chicago membership benefits, but does not have general voting privileges and cannot serve as a Director on NAPO Chicago's Board or as an Officer of the Association.
